The Round Table Forum for Diplomats of North & South American and Oceanic Embassies in China was held on October 26, 2017 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beijing. The discussion forum was jointly hosted by China Overseas Development Association and Jiang Tai International Associates .

The forum intended to introduce three upcoming investment platforms - 9th China Overseas Investment Fair (COIFAIR), China Enterprises Going Global Risk Conference, and the UTOU Unique Investment Services Platform - and to jointly explore ways of capitalizing on these upcoming events, as well as measures to boost outward investment of Chinese companies.

The Round Table Forum was attended by over forty diplomats and representatives from American and Oceanic embassies and institutions. Officials from resident embassies’ diplomats included those from Australia, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Samoa, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The conference was also attended by delegates from institutions such as Tennessee China Development Center, BIOCUBAFARMA Business Group, China-Peru Investment Development Association, and many others.

Mr. Shen Kaitao, Chairman of Jiang Tai International Associates, kicked off the discussion forum by welcoming all guests and delegates. Mr. He Zhenwei, Secretary General of CODA, delivered a keynote speech afterwards in which he stressed that despite recent drop in Chinese outbound investment due to structural changes, foreign investment initiatives such as One Belt One Road and international capacity cooperation are still on the main agenda of the Chinese government. Mr. He mentioned the successful takeover of Volvo by a Chinese company as an example and said that such success can be copied on the American continent also. He asserted that investment and trade opportunities, such as Peru’s seafood surplus coupled with China’s seafood deficiency, exist and require working platforms to be exploited by investors and interested parties. He ended his speech by introducing the 9th COIFAIR and inviting the delegates to participate in the event, which will be held on Nov. 21st - 22nd at China National Convention Center in Beijing. Mr. Jing Xiang, Deputy General Manager of UTOU Investment Services Platform, afterwards delivered a comprehensive presentation about their Platform and the services they provide to investors in foreign countries.

The subsequent interactive discussion was occupied by lively discussion between delegates and hosts, Mr. He Zhenwei and Shen Kaitao, who answered a few questions and concerns posed by representatives from embassies, particularly those from Ecuador, Cuba, Uruguay, and the United States. All delegates showed interest and appreciation for investment and technological cooperation between Americas and Oceanic and China, welcoming COIFAIR as an important means of realizing the “Going Out” of Chinese companies and an important step in multilateral cooperation between the regions.
